Out of the Blue

"When God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window"

Looking at today's cards, I think I notice the bell in the 5 of Pentacles for the first time. I have had this deck for over ten years, but I don't remember seeing it before. I am guessing that it acts as a warning, telling people that it's wearer is unclean. Such bells were worn by people with leprosy in the middle ages and this card represents material and physical hardship. Many people suggest that the church (if that is what it is) is not available to the couple, but looking at it with new eyes this morning, I guess that it's occupants could have provided these two with the crutches and extra clothing we see in the picture. They move towards the right, which I have always read indicates the future, so I would hope that this time of ill-health or poor finances will not last forever.

These cards kind of read as a story. Looking at the first card, The Tower, do we see the same couple? Did their lightening-struck home cause them to become destitute and on the streets? As a duo, these cards could illustrate how quickly something can be taken away from us. It needn't be as obvious as our home, as shown here. It could be anything of value in the material world, since the second card is from the suit of Pentacles. The lightning strikes quickly and out of the blue. I would imagine that it was the last thing that these two expected. The woman no longer wears her crown, possibly indicating a fall from grace. The tower is elevated and I wonder if this couple have simply been knocked off of their pedestal. The guy on the left has certainly taken a knock on his fall from the tower, since he now wears a bandage around his head. Anyone I know?

With a busy day tomorrow, my boyfriend and I went for a drive this morning. I had wanted to go to a really nice and kitsch fabric shop not so far away, but with all of the roads up and being worked on, it proved murder trying to find somewhere to park. So instead, we went to a stationary superstore and then got something to eat. It hasn't been a particularly adventurous Saturday but it's the kind that both my body and bank balance needed.

The Tower always makes me a little nervous. It's probably one of about only two cards from the deck which actually bothers me. When combined with the 5 of Pentacles, unexpected health problems are a concern. With that in mind, I wondered if I might be tired today but I actually feel as though I am pulling myself back up to normality once again. Another reason not to push boundaries. Therefore, I am thinking that these cards might concern someone else in my life.
