Two Faced

I am unnerved by today's cards. On the left, we see the innocent gift of care and love from one person to another. A lot of people see the characters in this illustration as a boy and girl, but for me, the female always appears as a mother, projecting her unconditional love. If the male figure is her son, then I wonder if the childish costume is symbolic of his never being allowed to grow up in her eyes. How ever you view the two people, the 6 of Cups symbolises childhood, nostalgia, and the past. Therefore, it can often be linked to those with an immature outlook or times when we are stuck in situations or relationships which have already passed their sell-by-date. On a personal level, I also see this card as representative of an old friend.

Next to the 6 of Cups is The Moon. This card glides over the reading and dims it's light. I always think of it as a disturbing dream; one of those which make little sense when you wake the next morning. The dirt-track leading to (or from) the deep pool is broken and confused, and the face in the sky shows only one side. This leads me to believe that she is hiding something from me. Things appear very differently under moonlight. When The Moon is with the 6 of Cups, someone might be talking behind my back or potentially deceiving me; this might be an old friend. The cards advise me to stay alert and not be naive. What we see is not necessarily what we are getting.

It's cold today. I got back from my boyfriend's just after 8. I had snuggled up against the window on the train and closed my eyes for the duration of the journey, but during my walk home, I could think of no more than the warmth of my room and bed. I had planned to finish my patchwork throw today, but with my parents decorating, there is little space to lay it out and work. I have decided to leave it until Monday and do it then. Next week will become busier towards it's end, so hopefully I can get it finished at the start. I still have a good month before it needs to be completed. There are plenty of other things I can get on with today.

With the weekend approaching, I am still holding onto the advice of Monday's cards. March is looking to be a busy month. We have both my and my boyfriend's birthdays to contend with, I will be travelling to and from work when I begin projects in two schools, we have a wedding to attend, and are going to a surprise birthday dinner in South London this weekend. I need to hold the cash back for these things, so can't take on any more spontaneous dates.

  2. Thanks Hannah. I have another thirteen days yet. I have decided not to do anything this year. Besides, it is near to my boyfriend's and we are going up to London for that. But I am sure he and I will celebrate in some way. I am just not in the mood for a big do of any kind this year. When is yours?

  3. Well hopefully whatever you end up doing or not doing goes well. Not sure if that makes any sense...hah.

My birthday is at the end of the month, on the 27th. I'm an Aries (moon, mars, south node in Pisces) and I'm just having a mellow get-together with family and one long-time friend.

    Hugs!
