I have decided to try something a little different with a handful of my forthcoming draws on the blog. I am not a major fan of the Celtic Cross, but it is a spread I have always used with success when I read for others professionally. To ground my dailies that little bit more, I thought it might be interesting to anchor each of them with one of the spread's ten positions. First of all, I considered writing out numbers from one to ten on small pieces of paper and then putting them in a bag so I could draw the position, but this morning, decided on using a random number generator online to pick it instead. It produced the number (or position) 1. I then turned to the eyes of Jet and shuffled the cards. As my intuition and focus, he selected the Queen of Flowers.
The first position in the Celtic Cross is actually not unlike my draws as they currently stand, since it depicts the theme of the reading. Therefore, it picks the theme of the day. It can be an interesting position because people often come to a reading thinking it will be about one thing, but the cards advise that this is not the real source of either their difficulties or happiness.
For today's draw, we have the Queen of Flowers (in traditional tarot, this would be the Queen of Cups). From looking through the book Frozen Light by Victoria Frances, it would seem that as with many of the images in this deck, the character in the card is Favole. As you read and learn more about her, this is less of a problem than I thought it would initially be. Here, she is in love, pining for the vampire, Ezequiel, who seems to be her focus in this trilogy. With long, dark, flowing hair and a violin, he plays the Emperor in this deck, and she is his Empress. I'd say he is on her mind.

"The melodies slowly stopped, the laughter disappeared along with the ghostly dancers, and the deepest silence fell upon them, while the flames of candles started to dim, casting a dreamlike darkness upon the place. Favole woke from her motionless sleep like a statue, frozen in the surface of an old mirror that rose grandly among the cobwebs of her cold bed.
The smell of the incense flooded the room and the sound of a single violin could be heard once again ..."

As I have mentioned before, this queen holds the black rose of emotion within her mouth, while closing her eyes. She is so absorbed by it's perfume that it cuts her lips and tongue. I see it as a symbol of Ezequiel and her love for him. From my understanding, Ezequiel is said to have made his eternal travels through gloomy countries and thousands of cemeteries, where many a beautiful lady has been reborn after finding death at his touch. However, it is the Venetian maiden, Favole, who's company and love influenced the rest of the sinister prince's life. The legend says that Ezequ
iel fought back the desire to make her his eternal bride, so that her soul wouldn't have to wander eternally as a vampire. Trying to keep death away from her, he drove her out of his castle, if not his heart. The moon presiding over the Favole Tarot knows that the vampire prince has eternal dreams of this woman, and it would seem from this card, that the Queen of Flowers reciprocates them. For today, this card concerns me a little. We are going to my boyfriend's brother's house tonight for a party. It is my 'sister-in-law's' birthday. As much as she and I get on very well and I care about her, she carries her emotions close to her like this Queen of Flowers. Sometimes, when emotionally aroused, her feelings become words. Emotion can caress or sting, and as with the party a couple of weeks ago, sometimes end in tears. She and my boyfriend's sister have hardly spoken since the incident then, so I am hoping that this emotional queen will not harbor any resentment about what happened. She is not the best at forgiving, and least of all, forgetting. This card is wrapped up with emotion. It can quite often symbolise love and a female lover, but sometimes, it is simply describing the intensity of human feeling. This would be the theme of today. I am just hoping that it represents the love of her family, rather than another emotional outburst. In all honesty, I am not looking forward to this party.
