I used to get this card a lot when I was looking for work. Sometimes, it is hard for me to think of much more than work when I look at it. This probably has something to do with my days of using The Thoth, since Crowley adopted that word as his keyword for the card.
When I looked at the card this morning, the words that first came to mind were 'she's painting her future'. That's what it certainly looks like, as she creates a window she can eventually step through into a brighter day. I think that the tarot is reminding me to get on with my proposals. I have woken with an achy neck and foggy head, which has slowed down any desire of doing things today. The illustration reminds me of painting the scenery for the school play recently. The people watching and pointing believe in what the artist is doing, which feels pretty positive to me as I am depending on the good reputation I have built up over the last seven months.
It seems as though the bad behaviour over the UK is slowing down, as people are now becoming accountable for what they have done. It was quite satisfying to see the early morning calls from the riot police on tv, kicking in the doors of the scum involved and dragging them out by the scruff of their neck. David Cameron says that others who have committed crimes can expect the same, which I hope has put the fear of God into the yobs involved, as they watch the news from their stolen plasma televisions. This situation has become something else now, as murder investigations have begun. It broke my heart to hear of a 68 year old man who had left his home to try and stop looters starting fires, only to be beaten so badly that the police couldn't identify him for three days. His brother and sister have been beside his bed for a couple of days but he died this morning. That could have been my father. And then of course, there are the three young men in Manchester, who were all purposely run down and killed for protecting their mosque. I listened to a debate on the radio this morning, where people discussed what their punishment should be. I kind of agree that a three month prison sentence, which usually only ends up lasting a month, or completely wiping the benefits of the younger criminals doesn't really help matters. One woman suggested that the parents should pay from their own pockets, which I can see the sense in, but looking at today's card, I wonder if some kind of long term community service is not the way forward, until they have paid back what they owe. Of course, there is no amount of work that can make up for the senseless murders and disrespect for human life that we have witnessed.
I had planned to spend a couple of hours with a friend today. I woke up, feeling as though I should cancel, but am about to push myself to the bathroom. My neck still aches and I could easily fall back into bed for more sleep, but it might actually do me good to get out into the fresh air for a bit. It's all about painting your future the way you want it to be.

I really love this card and this image. I like the idea of painting my future... that really sets well with me. Now that this trip is coming to an end something has settled within me. I am ready to return home, but I also feel that a part of me will always be connected to London... I guess London has changed me, inspired me... whatever it may be I am happy about it and I think it will add to the colors I can paint with.
ReplyDeleteI keep wondering whats next in my journey. So many things are uncertain...but not in the bad way. I think you just have to keep grounded and stay in motion. I think you are doing a great job of that. You have been resting, which is essential and now you will begin your "painting".
I think the riots and all of the pain and destruction that was left behind is terrible, but I do think that it was a type of cleansing... an eye opener to many people. I hope that the ones who committed crimes learn their lesson and that they never hurt anyone again and I hope that people realize how important community is.
This card makes me have hope :) ...wishing you well my dear friend.

I like this one too. I like the window aspet and creating the landscape of your own choice. It's about what you put in.
ReplyDeleteAs with other 3's, I see a community in this card. With regard to what you say, I can imagine people supporting one another after the riots; helping them to repaint their pictures and try to put their businesses back together.
