Last night's party was good. I wasn't expecting it to be when we parked up in Charlton, since the streets were littered with groups of young people and it appeared to be a bit on the rough side. However, the actual venue was in a hall down an alley, and once we were inside, I quickly forgot about the world outside of it. The birthday girl finally entered around 8.30 from her limo; all of her girlfriends had come with her and lined a red carpet as she danced her way through them to Here Comes the Girls. Everyone there was very friendly and after a few good drinks, my boyfriend, his mother and I finished up on the dance floor. Not one of my finer moments, but it was nice to relax and have a laugh; not far off from yesterday's image of playful fairies in the 3 of Cups.
The Prince of Swords flies into today's draw. Yes, he visited not so long ago, when he brought me flashes of new understanding. I am still a little confused by where to sit him amongst the courts, since there are contrasting statements of his court position in the accompanying book. At the moment, he stands for a flash of inspiration or messages, which I think he brings today. It would seem that he wants my attention, as he holds his sword up for me to see. He's a little like a postman, holding a letter -"yoo-hoo", he calls. This card might concern a phone call I received this afternoon. One of the practitioners I had been working with very regularly before the end of term rang for a catch up. I probably should have got in touch before, but what with all of the things we have had planned and wanting to rest out of work for a bit this summer, I have left a lot of things to slide. I kind of wish I had called her now, since she is in hospital. While we were working together, we had lunch in a park and she had been complaining about her back. A few days after we'd finished the project, she apparently couldn't walk properly and went to A&E. It turns out that they have discovered cancer in her spine and now she is unable to walk. I was shocked to hear what she has been through but said I will definitely get down to see her in London when she is out of hospital and settled in her flat.
Today has been quiet. Apart from taking my boyfriend's niece out for lunch and doing some shopping, we have done little else. As I write, I am sitting in my boyfriend's parent's house while his mother is cooking a roast, which smells lovely. His father is away, so it is just the three of us. For this draw, I see the Prince of Swords as a messenger, bringing me news of my friend's illness.
