The Spear of Lugh

One of the things which has been interesting about the draws I've made with this deck so far, is the buildings in three of the four cards. In the 2 of Dialogue, I linked the observatory to our bungalow; a place at the end of a stream, representing our future. In the Warrior of Art, the building then became the home of Oengus mac Og, the Brú na Bóinne by the river. I saw the winding pathway as one we were stepping on to as we got closer to moving. For today, we have what I assume is the otherworldly city of Goririas in the background. It is shining with warmth and it is that same energy which sends the spear on it's journey. It's a little like a reward in the distance, glowing with vigor, health and joy. Apparently, battle would never go against whoever wielded The Spear of Lugh, shown here with the kindler of fire, Esrus. Sounds promising, doesn't it?

When I first began to learn the tarot, I was taught that aces indicated new beginnings. For today, that would be true. This one reminds me a little of the version from the Sharman Caselli, which shows a palace in the distance, which I am sure I read was a goal. I have always considered the ace as a seed, which holds the potential for all other cards in it's suit within itself. This card is a good example of that theory, since we can see the single spear of fire and the burning city in the distance. They have both grown from the same spark. For today, I think it shows our first steps from here to the bungalow, our dreams, and all of what needs to be done in between, symbolised by the hills. Another beautiful card from a beautiful deck.

Even though up early, I need to get myself into gear. More needs to be sorted (including disconnecting this computer) before the removal men get here again and I can hear the mantle clock downstairs chiming 7 o'clock. I have to get myself ready and throw myself into action like Esrus. Due to the time it takes to get phone lines and internet connected, I don't know when I will be back here. I may still write every day and publish later, but it all depends on how busy I am with the house. However, I will have my Blackberry on me, so will be updating and publishing the odd photo here and there on Twitter. Thanks for all of the kind words and support I have already received. I look forward to my return to the blog, as soon as I am able to get back.

  1. I am so thankful you are getting away from that bad situation! I am convinced you and your parents will experience healing in many ways in the coming months.

I had a look at your photo of packed tarots--very neat--a far cry from the little cabinet that looked like a house that you used to keep them in. I liked that cabinet though, and Jack. ;-)

  3. Thanks Ben. Just got back to the world of the internet. However, my main computer, which has today's blog entry on, is acting up 'again' so can't publish until it gets over itself and turns on.

It would be lovely to receive a reading from you sometime. And I am so pleased to hear your kind words about my blog.

  4. Yes, the little cabinet is still with me .. but in the loft. I used to like that a lot too but I don't want to overcrowd this room.

I am also feeling the healing of being away from the poison, JJ.

  5. I am so happy to hear that you are finally moving. I have been so busy that I havent had a chance to keep up with anything. I feel like this card is speaking about lots of new things entering into your life. Often when I see the ace of wands I often feel that it represents a new phase of work or career as well. So maybe something else is in the works. Hope all is well.

All moved now and happy to be here. I am hoping that your thoughts about the ace take me to new employment or projects!
