A Friend rides into Town

At first glance, it looks as though this knight is creeping along with his weapon, but if you look more closely, you can see the simple outline of the horse he is actually sitting on. This illustration, from the notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci, is a costume sketch for the Duke of Milan's masque. Without an armour, his mission is one of emotion or love. Therefore, he could quite easily be an emotional messenger, asking how we feel about something or someone.

One of my friends, who I became connected to through the internet, got in contact last night. We haven't spoken in a while, but I had recently wondered how he is doing and had planned on getting in touch, so it was nice to receive his email. There is a sensitivity and honesty to this young man, so linking him to this knight would not be too much of a long shot. There was another email from him in my inbox this morning, filling me in with all of his news and asking what has been going on with my boyfriend and I. He suggested we not lose touch so easily this time, so I guess he could have something to do with the messenger and movement connected to this card. A friend rides in to town, no less.

My boyfriend has had the last two days off of work. I had appointments I couldn't get out of today, including the dentist. I hate the dentist, but with a toothache bothering me recently, I registered with a new one. We shopped about in between appointments. Because it has been so cold out, my boyfriend wanted to buy some bird feeders for the garden. We have four really big windows in our new living room; two of which fill a wall, and provide an intimate view of the overgrown bushes and trees. One of the things we liked about this when we got here is that it is often rife with small birds, bobbing about on the branches. It seemed to be the obvious place to home the bird feeders for now, so once in place, we slinked back into the sofa under the window and waited. A few inquisitive little tits and a robin came to take a look, but none of them have taken the plunge just yet. However, for the second time today, we spied a fox. The previous owner's gardener said that we have a resident fox and my boyfriend wonders if it actually has it's den somewhere beneath the bushes in the garden. It was sitting on the snowy lawn this morning, scratching itself.

Understandably, my boyfriend wanted to relax for the latter part of his days off of work. We watched the second film in a trilogy this evening. Last night we watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and just followed it up with it's sequel, The Girl who played with Fire. I was inquisitive about the trilogy, since I recently noticed that the first one had been remade and released this year. The films are Swedish and I wonder if it was made again with Daniel Craig for the American audience. Even though dark, we both enjoyed the two original films and have one more to watch. Naiomi Rapace is fantastic as Lisbeth.

It is nice to have been visited by the Knight of Cups today; whether it is the connection with my friend Josh, the time spend with my boyfriend, or our feeding of the birds. The card is connected to the people and things that bring us emotional satisfaction.
