Team Building

I like this card. I bought it as a greeting card a couple of years ago. I think it is that lovely wine colour that I like. It is very soothing against the green. The original painting is called Soul Mates. Anne Stokes says of it - "The idea I had for this artwork was to have the dragons wings line up so at first glance they might seem as if they belonged to the girl and thus emphasise the bond between them".

The number 8 is about karma. It is about the results of seeds we've sewn; possibly what we have said or what we have done. In this card (especially when alone), it is about good fortune. This would be the positive results of something put into motion already. When I drew the card this morning, I was hoping it might concern the job application I filled in and delivered last week, but I haven't heard anything. It is also a card of team work and I thought it might have concerned the team I'd applied to work with.

The thing about cards is that they often show what cannot be seen. My intuitive response to this one might very well be spot on. The person reviewing my application may be putting it on the 'interview pile' or might have received good recommendations from the references I put down. Just because I cannot see it, it doesn't mean it is not happening.

The weather has been up and down today. My parents and boyfriend like shade in the garden, so because the table umbrella doesn't cover so much of the patio, my mum and dad bought a large white gazebo to sit over it. It wasn't expensive, but it does make for a nice alternative dining area. The bushes grow through it and we positioned large plant pots around it's legs. It makes the patio feel more intimate, and of course, cooler. I helped them finalise the green house too; we finished cleaning it out and laid concrete slabs within it. Things are really coming along out there. There's much more to do, like possibly levelling out and paving one of the lawns, but everything is happening one step at a time.

I met Kate in town after dinner. The mediumship course we were on finished some weeks ago and the group leaders suggested that everyone could meet fortnightly if there was a desire to. We haven't been to the last two meetings, but I know Kate was interested in us returning.

There was only nine of us sitting in the open circle this evening and it wasn't so different to the things we did on the course. We started with a meditation and then tried out some psychic and mediumistic exercises in the group. I find this quite hard, and from the few hits and many misses amongst us, I'd guess that I am not the only one. Because this is more of an open affair, I was wondering if it might be worth bringing my playing cards to the sessions when we go again and find ways of tapping into my intuition that way. In Ana's book, she talks of cutting the deck to find simple snap shots of information for interpretation. This method might suit a session like this.

Even though a lot of what happens in this circle washes over me, I do enjoy going; it is worth it just to something different and spend time with Kate. Sometimes, we have dinner together before, but most often, we sit in a pub and have a coffee and catch up. I don't go out on weekday evenings as much as I used to, so this makes a nice change. We both booked in for a beginners yoga session next week.

As with yesterday, I have brought James to the table. He is often shown in sultry mood, so it is nice to see a photograph of him laughing. I am guessing from the jacket that this was taken on the set of the movie Rebel Without A Cause. These images are harder to instill with Playing Card Oracle method meanings, but his happy smile does mirror the mood of the 8.
