Gift from a Helping Hand

I have been making a lot of notes about the cards recently; mainly for Tarot Talk, but also because I want a working manual of my own ideas to teach with eventually. I am trying my best to pull everything I have learned about each of the cards over the years into a simplistic unlimited group of sentences. Going through the Major Arcana over the last three days has been interesting. One of the phrases I associate with today's card, the Ace of Pentacles, is a physical gift.

I received The Golden Rider today, as you can see from the photograph. On shuffling up, it chucked the Ace of Pentacles at me. Yeah, I know, it's telling me that it is here. This is quite a good example of the card's meaning, if you see it as a physical gift or arrival. It is a helping hand, brought to my door. In this case, a tool that 'can' help me expand my wealth and physical experience. It came through the letterbox, which adds to the idea of a delivery in the earthy realm.

I don't see the Ace of Pentacles as a card of bailing someone out with monetary wealth. It is simply the offer of support. We received a call from the insurance company this morning, saying that my laptop can be repaired. We will need to pay £50 to the repair bill and they will pay the rest. This is another good example for the card because it highlights how important our involvement in the process is. I have never subscribed to the windfall interpretation of this card in many books.

The weather has been up and down. We have had brief but heavy showers and they do not look ready to end just yet. I was meant to meet my friend for coffee and a catchup but she cancelled, saying she has a bug. As much as it would have been nice to see her, I was relieved. My fatigue has been like the weather this past weekend and I feel kind of weak when I stand today. I think I'll feel better for staying home and continuing with my study of the major cards.

  1. Hi Prince Le Normand,

I had not seen this tarot before. The backs are nice, and from what I can see so is the style of illustration. Your collection is very interesting to me. I think I will comb through the archives to find more impressions from the past.

    Wishing you a happy week!

    1. It is not such a discussed or used one, I think. It seems less popular than the Universal, Original and Radiant. I fancied it because I wanted something painterly and I like the vibrant pinks and blues. The golds are a little sickly and muddy but I am getting used to them. I like a different handful of 'Waites' to play with.

A happy week to you too!
